Over 30 years of importing heat management products from DEI and Thermo-Tec we have built a deep product knowledge which not only allows us to offer product advice and recommendations to customers but it also gives us an understanding of who our customers are and the products they need, from individual end users all the way up to OEM’s. Something we know our customers value is the ability to order heat management materials of their choice in a size that works for them, having access to the full product range allows us to keep a wide range of product variants in stock from standard retail packs up to bulk volumes.

The option to purchase heat management materials in bulk gives the customer a number of benefits, the first and most obvious one is cost as unpackaged bulk variants do tend to show a saving compared with the smaller retail packaged variants. The major benefit though is the convenience of not having to work within the restrictions of pre-cut sizes of material, for example most hose and wire protection materials are supplied as a 3ft length which is great for many applications but when you require a 4ft length or 2x 2ft lengths the 3ft really isn’t the most convenient option. The convenience to purchase only the material you need reduces unnecessary waste of material, reduces packaging, saves you money and quite often leads to a tidier installation with less need for joins.

In this article we highlight some of our most popular heat management materials, their uses and the bulk variants we hold in stock in our UK warehouse.

 

DEI Fire Sleeve, high-temperature protection for hoses and wires, available in bulk and custom lengths.

When looking for the ultimate high temperature hose protection, the DEI Fire Sleeve for hoses and wires is a safe choice giving protection against direct temperatures of 500°f and intermittent temperatures of 2000°f. Ideal for insulating wiring, hoses, oil/brake/transmission lines and also for bundling wires together with the added benefit of protecting against abrasion.

Available as either a 3/8”, 5/8”, 3/4” or 1” internal diameter, retail kits contain a 3ft length of Fire Sleeve with a 16” length of Fire Tape to tidy the ends when installed.

For all four internal diameter options we also keep Fire Sleeve bulk rolls in stock which are 25ft in length, this is convenient for many of our customers who purchase a spool to keep on the shelf in their workshop enabling them to cut exact lengths when they need it, we are also able to supply Fire Sleeve per foot for lengths over 4 foot. Fire Tape can be purchased separately if required to add the finishing touch, this is sold as a 1”x36” roll and is another useful addition to the toolbox.

Thermo-Tec Thermo-Sleeve, aluminised heat shield for hoses and wires, available in bulk and custom lengths for automotive and commercial applications

This innovative product is designed to offer the highest level of heat protection for hoses, wires and cables in a wide variety of applications both in the automotive industry and in much wider commercial industries. Thermo-Sleeve radiant heat shield has a high temperature fabric base with a highly reflective foil surface, together forming an ultra-lightweight heat barrier that can reflect over 90% of radiant heat.

Thermo-Sleeve is available in five different internal diameters, ½”, 1”, 1 ½”, 2” and 2 ½”, all are available in retail packs of 3ft lengths, in addition to this we also keep retail packs of 12ft lengths, giving options to suit most applications. For larger scale commercial applications we keep 50ft rolls of each size of Thermo-Sleeve, these bulk rolls are extremely popular with our customers as they are useful to have in their stores allowing them to cut the precise length required without waste.

DEI Heat Shroud, easy-to-Install velcro heat sleeving for wires and hoses, available in bulk and custom sizes.

This heat sleeving with velcro is a convenient product that can be wrapped around wires, cables and hoses without the need to disconnect them first. Made from a high temperature rated glass fiber fabric with an aluminized facing, DEI Heat Shroud can withstand direct temperatures of up to 500°f and radiant temperatures of 2000°f, reflecting heat away to ensure optimum working conditions within.

Available as either a 1/2” to 1-1/4”, 3/4” or 2” to 2-1/2” internal diameter, supplied as a 3ft length. The 1/2” to 1-1/4” internal diameter has proven to be extremely popular for a wide variety of applications in a range of industries, this has led to us holding stock of this ID as 50ft spools and opened up the opportunity to sell in bulk per foot.

DEI Reflect-a-Gold, ultralight reflective heat barrier for high-temperature protection, available in sheets, rolls, and tape.

This ultralightweight reflective heat barrier has many uses to control heat under the bonnet. Perfect for high temperature swing environments and capable of withstanding continuous temperatures of 800°f. Commonly used on bulkheads and bodywork to prevent heat soak and protect painted surfaces from the damaging effects of radiant heat. Also very effective when used to reflect heat away from heat sensitive components such as cold air intakes, wiring harnesses, fuel lines and other electronics such as ECU’s.

With DEI Reflect-A-Gold being such a versatile product, our customers requirements vary massively from a small sheet of material to protect a small area of painted bodywork up to much larger sheets to cover complete bulk heads and some even larger commercial applications. We therefore hold pre-cut sheets measuring 12”x12”, 12”x24” and 24”x24” as well as a bulk roll which is 24” wide and is sold per linear foot for orders of 3ft or more.

Reflect-A-Gold is also available as a reflective heat tape measuring either 1-1/2” or 2” wide, both options available as a 15ft or 30ft roll.

DEI Reflect-a-Cool, cost-effective heat barrier for larger areas, available in bulk rolls and tape.

Capable of withstanding continuous temperatures of 400°f, DEI Reflect-a-Cool has a lower price point than Reflect-a-Gold and is a fantastic product to cover larger areas of bodywork or areas that are not going to be exposed to direct extreme temperatures. Reflect-a-Cool can more than handle radiant heat up to 2000°f. When choosing between Reflect-a-Gold or Reflect-a-Cool we would suggest to use Gold for the most critical areas that are in contact with extreme heat sources and then use Cool for everywhere else!

We keep Reflect-a-Cool in a bulk roll measuring 36” wide and this is sold per foot for orders of 5ft or more, for smaller jobs we also keep retail packs measuring 12”x12”, 12”x24”, 24”x24” and 36”x48”. To join seams or wrap wires DEI also offer Reflect-a-Cool as a tape, DEI Cool Tape can be supplied as either 1-1/2” or 2” wide and both widths are available in either 15ft or 30ft rolls.

 

DEI Heat Screen, heavy-duty aluminized heat protection for automotive, aerospace, and commercial applications, available in bulk

DEI Heat Screen has a heavyweight glass fibre backing with a reflective aluminised surface capable of withstanding direct temperatures of 1200°f, this high performance makes it a perfect choice for areas exposed to excessive heat. Common uses would be to protect areas of bodywork that fall close to an exhaust pipe to protect against paint blisters and heat transfer into unwanted areas such as the interior of the vehicle. Heat screen has also become a popular heat barrier for aerospace applications and wider commercial applications such as lighting solutions. This material is easy to cut and form with only a minimal clearance needed for installation.

Heat Screen is supplied in a pre-cut 36” x 40” retail pack which is a great size for many applications. For larger applications or for commercial applications that may require a large number of smaller pieces, the option to purchase in bulk is very convenient. For these applications we hold a bulk roll of DEI Heat Screen which measures 36” wide and is sold per linear foot for orders of 4ft or more.

For installation you have the option to fasten mechanically using locking ties, alternatively this can be installed with high-temp adhesives for heat shields such as the DEI Hi-temp Spray Adhesive.

Exhaust wrap continues to be one of the most effective heat management materials and often the first option we suggest when discussing heat management strategy with customers. We keep a huge range of exhaust wraps from DEI and Thermo-Tec in stock with a variety of colours available in sizes from just 1” x 15ft long right up to 8” x 100ft. G1 & G2 Nimbus Heat Shield, versatile aluminium heat shield for automotive and commercial applications, available in custom sizes

Two mainstays of our heat shield lineup are the Nimbus Lite single layer aluminium heat shield and Nimbus G2 dual layer aluminium heat shields. The Nimbus Heat Shield materials are incredibly versatile and used across a wide range of automotive and commercial applications. Supplying tier 1 and tier 2 manufacturers we understand how important a fast and reliable supply is to them, often with tight production schedules to follow. That is why we always keep excellent stock of these materials, often able to deliver to our customers within 24 hours of their order. From the factory, Nimbus Lite is supplied as a 1200mm x 1000mm sheet and the G2 as a 1230mm x 1200mm, we can then supply per sheet or cut into half or quarter sized sheets using our onsite cutting facilities.
